wich needle size is used for Juvederm voluma for cheek augmentation ?
Hi there! Juvederm works beatifully for augmenting cheek volume but is a slighty deeper injection than lips or eyes. I find a 27G needle is more precise for injecting while still minimizing injection pain (especially with Ultra XC) while avoiding a bent needle or overly slow injection process. Enjoy!
whats the secret to minimizing bruises from wrinkle injections like juvederm or restylane? Should I apply ice to the area of injection?
Plan out 2-3 WEEKS not days for minimal bruising. No Aspirin, over-the-counter pain relievers except Tylenol, and NO SUPPLEMENTS!! Fish oil, glucosamine, etc can cause bruising just like aspirin. Try not to get injected while you are cycling- menstruation can affect your bruisability.
Prior to your injection ask the injector to apply ice to the area to shrink the blood vessels under the skin. Despite all this, if you still bruise (hyaluronic acids like Restylane and Juve will be more likely to cause bruising than other fillers) eat fresh pineapple including the core, or take bromelain supplements. You also can ask your physician to treat your bruises with an IPL or pulsed-dye laser (our office offers this at no charge, but you would have to check with your injector prior to injections!).
Good luck!
I'm not sure about which filler to use in my lips vs. under my eyes or in my nasolabial folds. When is Juvederm the best choice, or a better choice than Restylane, Evolence or other fillers?
I personally use Juve for my lips and tear troughs. Yes, it can accumulate a small amount more fluid than Restylane (I have used that on myself also) but one injection per year vs. 2-3 for Restylane makes it worth it to me. All hyaluronic acid fillers (Juve, Restylane, Perlane, etc) can be contoured with hyaluronidase (a quick injection) so if you are lumpy or over-corrected it is an easy fix. Fewer injections means less downtime overall.
Enjoy!
