How long does Botox last? What determines how long it will work for me?
Hello! Initially getting injected, most patients notice movement resuming 2-4 months later. However, the cosmetic effects do not simply dissolve overnight, and your skin condition and muscle strength, as well as habits like scowling, impact the longevity or at least dictate when you will likely want more. The longer you use Botox, the longer most patients can go between injections. Keeping up with the injections on a regular basis also usually means less Botox will be required at the next injection (if your muscle is still slightly weak). Good luck!
I have always gotten 10 units on my forehead. although it didnt remove every line it looked smooth when my muscle was relaxed & lasted 3 months. i went 2 a new doctor becaue mine is out of town for 3 weeks and he insisted on 45 units! I'm only 26. there's only two small lines 2-3inches long that show up with no muscle movement? Is this outrageous amount?
If 10 units gave you good results, jumping to 45 units may be excessive for you. Make sure your physician is listening- your physician should never "insist" on using more Botox than you are requesting, especially if you have a history of injections and know how much you need! If you feel you are being pushed into more than you want, get another opinion. Good luck!
