I had restaylne in the past and it really bruised. the bruises lasted over 3 weeks!! is juvederm similar in that I will get bruising from the injection?
Bruising can occur with fillers but three weeks is definitely a long time. Several things to look at first are: Did you do all you could to minimize the bruising? Avoiding aspirin, ibuprofen, nonsteroidals or any blood thinners the week before really makes a difference in how much somebody bruises. In addition, the technique that the injector uses also makes a difference. I am a firm believer in that icing the area prior to injection as well as afterwards really helps minimize bruising. Beforehand it shrinks blood vessels deceasing the chance of bruising. Afterwards, as we all know, ice can help prevent bruising and swelling. Also, if the injector takes their time with their technique, bruising and swelling can be minimized.
Other factors in terms of whether one filler causes more bruising than another is definitely open to debate. I do find that Juvederm is one of the softer fillers out there and seems to go in easier with less bruising and swelling. In addition, there seems to be fewer issues with lumpiness. Because of this, if you are trying to make your second injection a little better experience, Juvederm may be a better choice.
From what i can tell juvederm is maybe better than restylane because it lasts longer. Is this true? Are there other things i should take in to account before choosing juvederm or restylane?
Juvederm and Restylane are both good products. Studies can be found showing longer lasting results for both Restylane and Juvederm. Preferences really depend on the patient, the surgeon and the location of injection. In my own personal experience, I have found that Juvederm is a little softer product and seems to go in a little easier. In terms of longevity, I have seen differences depending on the location and on the patient. In general, I do prefer Juvederm because of its ease of injection and its use in multiple areas. I do find Juvederm to be really the best filler for the lips because of its soft nature and lower incidence of bruising, swelling and lumpiness.
Choice of fillers depends on a variety of factors and the first place to start is a consultation with your facial plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
wich needle size is used for Juvederm voluma for cheek augmentation ?
Hi there! Juvederm works beatifully for augmenting cheek volume but is a slighty deeper injection than lips or eyes. I find a 27G needle is more precise for injecting while still minimizing injection pain (especially with Ultra XC) while avoiding a bent needle or overly slow injection process. Enjoy!
