Rhinoplasty and Nose Shaping
A rhinoplasty is the surgical alteration of the shape of the nose. Rhinoplasty is occasionally referred to as a "nose job", rhinoplasty is one of the more difficult procedures for a plastic surgeon to perform correctly, and one of the most common procedures requiring revision surgery. The fundamentals of 21st century technology and the art of sculpting are intertwined as a nose has its shape changed. Form and function must both be respected or unacceptable results can occur. A rhinoplasty can be done purely for cosmetic reasons, purely for functional (nasal breathing) reasons, or a combination of both. Insurance will often cover nasal procedures done for functional reasons, but rarely if the change desired is purely cosmetic. Other surgery such as sinus surgery can be done at the same time as a rhinoplasty if necessary.
Face and Neck Lifts
Dr. Winslow performs hundreds of facelifts each year, and has performed over a thousand in her career. A facelift or minilift very nicely addresses aging below the cheekbones; for aging around the eyes or forehead, a blepharoplasty or browlift may also be recommended. These procedures can be performed at the same time, if desired. The result after a facelift or minilift is a natural, refreshed appearance with no visible scarring. The procedures are performed under twilight sedation, using medicines given through an IV. Avoiding general anesthetic often means less nausea and a faster recovery. Most facelifts and minilifts are performed in our fully accredited procedure suite located in our Carmel, IN office. Pain is usually described as less than expected, and patients are able to eat and drink as soon as they get home. Downtime after a facelift or minilift is one week with restrictions on activity and lifting to minimize bruising and swelling. Complications are rare and results are imm
