What Can Be Done to Revise Deviated Septum and Asymmetry in my Nose? (photo)

I had a nose job a year ago. Now it is deviated, assymetric, and to me a little short looking. My columella seems to be hanging, but if I mess with it, it may make my nose too short. The columella is also leaning to the right and it caused my tip to lean to the left. What could be done to fix this.. my primary surgeon suggested a stitch to bring up the columella which my help the nostril show and make the columella less droopy. But, can the deviated lower cartilages be fixed this way? Plz help!

A: A stitch won't fix, find experienced rhinoplasty surgeon!

Hi there. Your problems can be corrected but not with a stitch- you will likely need cartilage to improve the function and appearance of your nose. You would do well to consult with two or three experienced rhinoplasty surgeons, especially those who have experience with revision rhinoplasty, as this can be a challenging procedue. Good luck!

My GP is Referring Me to Have Rhinoplasty, How Long Will It Be Before my Appointment Arrives?

How long will the whole process take before i can actually have rhinoplasty? Can it be done in a month or less?

A: Timing depends on your health and surgeon's schedule

Hello! The timing of rhinoplasty should be considered carefully and will depend on many variables, not the least of which is your surgeon's schedule! Your general health, medications and activity (especially with regards to contact sports) will play a part in recommending the optimal timing. If you are taking Accutane, your surgeon may recommend that you wait 6-12 months after stopping the drug before proceeding. In general, most surgeons want at least 2 weeks prior to surgery to stop over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, smoking and anything that will affect the outcome. Good luck!

Nostril is Swelling from Inside out, Is This Likely to Go Away?

I had rhinoplasty 3 weeks ago. About one week ago, I noticed that the skin inside my left nostril where it looks like the incision was made was basically turning/swelling from the inside out. It looks as though I have a bump right under my left nostril and looks terrible. Anyone looking at me closely can see the incision in this nostril. Is it possible this is swelling and will go away? I'm nervous since it only started to look this way 2 weeks after surgery but hasn't gone down since.

A: Probably temporary but have it looked at!

What you are seeing is most likely temporary and a reaction to the procedure. However, when you have questions it is always best to go back to your surgeon- remember that your procedure was just the first step in your relationship wtih him! Your surgeon should be able to take a look, tell you what is going on and possibly offer remedies to help improve it faster. Don't play with it or try to manipulate it yourself! good luck.
