I have had 450cc over the muscle implants for 5 years and have lots of stretched/sagging skin. I'm having implants removed and lift done. My doc said the lift would make me an A cup and I would need to implants to be bigger. So my question is, if breast are this small is an implant necessary? I know it helps w/ cleavage but what how would they look without new implants?
Having your implants removed and a lift performed is a complex procedure that will change the shape and volume of your breasts. You should definitely discuss the surgery in detail with your surgeon and look at before and after photos of other patients who have had implants removed before making a final decision.
Are you having implant related issues that is causing you to want them removed after only 5yrs? Any revision surgery has higher risks and I would strongly suggest considering all options before having the surgery.
I have a stage 4 capsular contracture in my right breast. I had my surgery 6 years ago. I am considering not getting the breast implants replaced and have an augmentation done. Do you think not replacing the implants are a good idea? I am told by 3 different doctors that I have enough breast tissue to create a full breast.
Capsular contracture can be difficult to treat. If you have enough breast tissue to be happy with your size after removal of your implants, then not replacing the implants is good idea as it will remove the possibility of having capsular contracture again. You will likely have a breast lift to improve your breast shape after implant removal. There is no harm in leaving the implant out and if you are unhappy with your breast size to revisit having an implant placed back in sometime in the future - 6mo or more once you have healed from your surgery. Discuss your options with your surgeon carefully and be sure to understand the trade-offs with the choice you make.
I have 20 year old silcone capsulated Breast Implants. I'm sixty years old. I'm considering having them removed and not replaced.
This will leave very flat, saggy, unattractive breasts. Suggestions? Alternatives?
The appearance of your breasts after implant removal depends very much on the size of your breasts before you had augmentation. If you were very small, then the chances are that you will return to your pre-augmentation size and shape - except aging has occurred. However, if you were larger to begin with, then once you remove the implants, you are more likely to need a breast lift to avoid significant sagging and an unsightly appearance. Sometimes the better option would be to stage the procedures - first undergo the implant removal and just see how you heal and what the final shape will be. Many times you may not need any other procedures. If you do, then you can decide along with your surgeon what procedure would ideal for you. Although that means two surgeries, the results are often better that if you perform everything all at once.
