Hi its been 40 days since Ive done with my open rhinoplasty but Im so depressed now cuz my nose is still looks big and puffy and its base looks wide I heard that it may take some time to the final result to be shown so, will my nose look any different after some weeks or month? Will it get any smaller? P.S :the surgeon has shown me a big bon and small pieces of cartillage that have been cut from my nose in the surgery , thats why i thought it would be way smaller than before
Do not worry or obcess about this, as it is normal. You will only make yourself more depressed to no benefit. Rhinoplasty healing is a slow process taking about 1 year. Occasionally dilute steroid injections help supratip swelling in thicker skinned individuals, but are not used universally post rhinoplasty.
Hi. im an Asian grl.I had a silicon L- implant and septal cartilage nj in 07. I started seeing a red bump and I could actually see my implant pushing out. I got it removed in 2010. I was really adamant on getting a revision with rib cartilage but it's very expensive and there are few doctors who specialize in it. I believe my first nj got infected because it was a L- shaped implant. I want to get a I-implant now with cartilage at the tip. Is this a good idea? Is my infection rate higher now
Experience has taught us that there is definitely a higher rate of infection in a case such as yours. The best alternative alloplastic implant is probably PTFE (Gortex), but autogenous ear or septal cartilage is the safest approach. See an experienced nasal surgeon. Good luck withyour secondary rhinoplasty.
I've been wondering how extensive Rhinoplasty would be to shorten my nose without (if possible) changing the overall shape or angle of the nose. Thank you for your help!
Jon, your request is referred to as deprojection of the nose, and is appropriate considering your profile analysis. A strong dorsal profile should be maintained to ensure masculine features. Computer imaging is of great assistance to create a common "blueprint" that both surgeon and patient can agree upon. An experinced Rhinoplasty surgeon can perform this through either endonasal or external approaches. Good luck!
