If You Get a Necklift Will It Affect a Future Facelift?

I am able to hold off on a facelift until next year. I am keeping things at bay with Dysport and Restylane I do though have a neck problem with soft beginning of a sagging there. Uneveness from lipo 10 years ago. Which comes first for best results? The face and than the neck? I feel like the horse or the cart asking this, but I think maybe a future facelift will affect the lay of the face. Thanks

A: uneven neck contours and necklift options

You have a few options to address your uneven neck contours. If there is some skin laxity and excess, platysma banding (ie neck cords), and residual fatty deposits, and it is not too extensive, then a procedure called submentoplasty can be performed with an incision under the chin. It is also possible to add incisions behind the ear for more improvement. It will not detract from future facelift results, and there may be less to do in the neck area when you do have the facelift performed. Seek out a Facial Plastic Surgeon with experience and board certification for a comprehensive evaluation.

What Procedure Would Be Appropriate for my Neck?

I'm pretty young (19) but I've been noticing more recently that my neck appears rather fleshy, like the the neck line droops down too close to my chin. I'm pretty fit, so I think it's genetics - but I'm not sure if that's fat in my neck. I assume part of it is because I have a small chin, but I don't think I want to consider a chin implant as that seems more risky. Is there any possible neck liposuction or neck lift I could do? The former would seem more ideal for my age but I've no idea.

A: Tumescent liposuction with small cannulas will help your neck.

At your age, there are probably some hereditary factors at work to cause lipodystrophy or double chin. Some fat may also be present under the platysma muscles, but that is not apparent from the photos. Limited small cannula liposuction is probably appropriate unless there is loose skin, which can be addressed with limited excision using a small submental incision.

How Long to Wait Before Neck Lift Revision?

I had a neck lift 3 weeks ago and under my chin is more wrinkled then before and I have hard lumps that I can see and feel. I had lipo and the muscle repaired, It's not right I can tell and every time I look in the mirror I hate what I see I work in a salon. I just want it fixed, how long of a wait?

A: Consider ultrasound along with massage and lymphatic drainage only

This is a normal appearance after necklift procedures and it does resolve more quickly with massage, lymphatic drainage and gentle ultrasound treatment. Allow up to 6 months for final results and do not have revision surgery too soon as this may prolong the swelling and delay the normal healing process. Be patient and follow up with your surgeon.
