I have had two c-sections, both with vertical incisions. The scar seems to be stuck to the muscle, as it causes two bulges on either side. I know I need some liposuction. I am in relatively good shape (5'2" 107 lbs) and active. At my lowest weight (~102), I still have a lower abdominal bulge). I don't know if my muscle is separated. The area above the belly button has some sagging. Can I get by with a mini tummy tuck? Because of down-time concerns, can I get the lipo first and the tuck later?
Had my mini tummy tuck a week ago..made the mistake of taking 8 pair of denim jeans out of the dryer and carrying them up the stairs yesterday..have pain around the belly button area now and I am so afraid that I damaged my muscle repair. I have been worried sick since this happened..after going through all of this, I want the end result to be worth it. I had my binder on while this happened, so I'm hoping it was some support. Is it possible that I am ok..just strained things a little bit?
From your description, you may have over done it, but it is unlikely that you caused serious harm or ruined your result. We use a lot of sutures when doing the plication portion of the tummy tuck, so you should be OK. Be sure to stay in close contact with your surgeon and keep him/her updated on any changes in your condition.
I had Liposuction and mini Tummy Tuck a year ago. I now have "dog ears" at the ends of the incisions, and when I sit I get rolls on the my sides near the incisions. I spoke to my doctor about this and he has said that he would have to cut farther around to fix it. Does this seem right? Is this normal with a mini tummy tuck? I also have the buldge that I have read other women get when the upper muscles were not tightened. Is there a way to fix this without having to go through another Tummy Tuck?
From your description, it sounds like you have two different issues. For the most part, dog ears are easily removed under local anesthetic. This is common and the fix requires a quick, outpatient procedure under local anesthetic. Yes, the scar is extended somewhat, but this is very acceptable and patients are usually very pleased with this revision.
Regarding that bulge: if it is really due to laxity above your belly button, then a revision of your tummy tuck may be necessary. In some instances, this means a fully tummy tuck. Give your surgeon a call and see what he/she has to offer. Good luck.
