I will be having a full tummy tuck, breast lift with aug, and lipo of the flanks. I really want to make it to my daughter's sport competition which is a 4 hour drive. I would be sitting in a chair for 4 hours during the competition. It will take place about 17 days post-op. Will my body be able to handle this?
Dear Jennifer6177,
I ask my patients to not schedule any trips up to 3 weeks after any procedures under general anesthesia, wither by car or plane, if they can.
If any problems or concerns arise, then they can be seen right away the same day in the office.
there is the ever problem of DVTs ( blood clots in the legs ) if sitting for a prolonged period of time with pressure garments too. ( 4 hours in a car is long after surgery without stretching, walking )
and not even mentioning the discomfort at incisions sites, the swelling of tissues etc..still requiring pain meds eventually.
Maybe you want to schedule your procedure after the sport event ? you will be more relaxed then. After all, this is an elective procedure to make you look nice, not anxious about speedy healing..
your doctor should be a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
Good luck with all and to your daughter,

If I get lipo on my back and tummy will i look ok(not saggy)? I have 1 11mo son. I began 140-150 and was 216 when pregnant and down to about 180-185 now, I fluctuate back and forth when bloated. I am not sure the reason my belly feels loose. might have separation in muscles? I definantly would love to avoid a TT.I love my curves and dont want to be super skinny. I wouldnt mind losing 20 lbs because its hard to find jeans however. I just want that tiny waist I had before the baby.
Dear Sophia1990,
you do not mention your age ( 22 y.o. for 1990 ? ) neither if you are finished with having children.
If you are young and think you will have more children in the next future, then I would tell you to only consider Diet and exercise ( which is always healthy anyway ) and liposuction around your mid-section.
Liposuction will not cut skin, nor tighten the belly muscles, but will help redefine your waist better and flanks, where I can see you have some fatty deposits. you do not need to touch the hips, therefore keeping your curves.
with liposuction, you will not need to miss any days from work, nor taking care of your son.
once you are finished with pregnancies, then you can consider a tummy tuck which you will need, since the picture already shows a separation of muscles ( diastesis ).
you should consult with a Board certified Plastic surgeon.
Good luck,
Florence Mussat, MD
I found a Dr that I really like with an American Board of Cosmetic Surgery Certification.. Is that adequate, or does he need to be a member of different societies? He is also a faculty member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Physicians. I'm doing a Mommy Makeover, and only want to do it once!
Of the two you mention, only the American Board of Plastic Surgery is recognized by the Board of Medical Specialties and by hospitals as evidence of training and competance in cosmetic surgery including mommy make-over. The surgeon who is not recognized and credentialed at local hospitals for the procedures you seek is probably not the surgeon for you.
Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd.com
