Can I Get Eyelash Growth with Latisse? All Mine Have Been Pulled Out From Fake Lashes.

I recently lost most of my eyelashes due to putting on semi permanent lashes at the salon! I'm now having to use over the counter lashes when I go anywhere:( Will Lattise help me grow NEW lashes or just make the ones I have grow thicker? I so scared I will never have my old lashes again:( Thank you!

A: Don't count on it, but may be worth a try

Latisse does not revive dead follicles.  However, it is worth trying, as there may be more remaining lashes which might benefit from Latisse than you think.  This is especially true if the trauma is fairly recent.

Can I Use Betimol Instead of Latisse?

I have the glaucoma medication Betimol. Can I use that in place of Latisse?

A: Simple answer: No

Betimol is not a substitute for Latisse.  Timolol (Betimol) belongs to a completely different class of drugs -- beta blockers.  Beta blockers have a much more frequent incidence of systemic side effects, like exercise intolerance, erectile dysfunction, and heart rate changes.  Be very careful using prescription medications without doctor supervision!

Major Fat Atrophy Around the Eyes on Lash Line: What to Do?

I used Latisse on upper and lower lashes, after being told that the REASON not to do lowers was because it might get into my eyes. I was careful. After 4 months of use, I suddenly realized that the area around my eyelids, where the L touched, is sunken. No fat left. On the lowers, this has caused a deep horizontal line, with hash mark wrinkles crossing. The fat has simply vanished. It gives the appearance of bags, but in an odd way. It looks terrible. Is there any options for me?

A: Other respondents are wrong!

There is definitely an association of Latisse with localized fat atrophy. At the UIC Eye & Ear Infirmary, we have a series of these patients. This is most obvious in patients with unilateral Latisee use and unilateral fat loss. Google Latisse and fat loss to see other reports. There is fat in the area -- pre-septal fat as well as orbital fat. How frequent this complication occurs and how severe or reversible is not established. But it is definitely real.
