Do Glycolic Peels Increase Aging?

I am aware that the glycolic peels remove the dead layers of the skin which helps to promote new cells to the skins surface much quicker. I'm also aware that after a certain age our skin cells renew themselves more slowly. But by speeding up this process how do you know that you are not speeding up the ageing process of the skin?

A: Glycolic peels have stood the test of time

By clearing away the superficial dead skin cells, the peels allow the healthy living skin cells to show through. Also it allows the ever important moisturizers - to penetrate better.

When Does the Redness from a Glycolic Peel Go Away?

I recently used a 30 percent glycolic peel on my face and neck. I left it on for 10 min. My face got crusty and dry and scabbed where i had acne. My neck turned into a blotchy red mess and I dont understand why. I was wondering how long will it take for the blotchy redness to go away on my neck? I have been using cereve lotion and neosporin to keep it moist. Also some topical ointments lidocaine 5% and mupirocin 2% mixed in. does this sound like a good combination to get me through?

A: Redness from glycolic peels resolves with time

Redness from glycolic peels resolves with time. Topical wound care should be bland and not irritating as with aquaphor or Aveeno claming lotion.

A: Glycolic Acid burns can scar the skin

Glycolic Acid burns can scar the skin. They are best applied by knowledgeable dermatologists and are best neutralized with water. In the case of scarring or pigmentation see a board certified Dermatologist for expert care.
