Physicians were notified today that Evolence was immediately pulled from the US market. Why do you think J&J took this action?
Evolence was J&J's first foray into the cosmetic product's arena. They have had very little experience in product support and marketing. They have been relatively conservative in promoting the product. They also have purchased a breast implant company but have been very subtle in exerting it;s influence.
I have been relatively pleased with the product and am disappointed that they will cease distributing it. It may be picked up by another smaller company and be reintroduced... so stay tuned. Clearly there is a learning curve and the product is delivered very differently than other products. This likely made it a less popular and hence a less requested product. I was pleased with the very low incidence of bruising and bleeding.
My Physician indicated that collagen-based fillers are longer lasting than Hyaluronic acid fillers. My understanding is that Evolence Breeze is a porcine collagen filler that lasts longer than hyaluronic acid fillers (is this true?).
Also, is Evolence Breeze the most suitable lip filler currently on the market in terms of its longevity and relatively low health risks to the consumer?
Thanks!
Sincerely, Lisa (British Columbia, Canada)
It is too early to tell and I am pleased with the early results of this product but it is not in wide use and I suspect it will become another option but not definitive superiority sober existing products.
I am a 45 year old, African American female living in New York, and have been getting Restylane injections in the nasolabial folds and lips every 8 months for the past three years. I don't know why, but it seems like my body absorbs the material so quickly that the results start to fade within a few months. I am terribly disappointed with the results after three months and was wondering if Evolence would be a better choice for me? If not Evolence, what would you recommend? I want something long lasting, with minimal bruising and swelling.
There are some permanent fillers which have been available and will be available. However, many physicians raise concerns about these and none are currently recommended. Off label use is currently the only option.
Evolence is currently not a popular choice for the lips.
Fat injection is one potential solution that provides long term correction but it is minor surgery and you should discuss this with your surgeon.
