Dysport for Bunny Lines and Now Can't Move Upper Lip I had botox to treat my bunny lines approximately 3weeks ago. My clinician used dysport which I've never had before. About a week ago the left side of my face from my nose to my lip feels 'strange' and I can't move the left side of my upper lip. Is this as a result of treatment? Can it be corrected or how long will it be before I get movement back?
A: Lip weak after Dysport to bunny lines around the Nose

Yes the lip can become weak after usage of a neurotoxin such as Dysport or Botox to the bridge of the nose for bunny line reduction.  The reason is a muscle called the Levator labii superioris alaeque nasi  which starts on the nose and extends down to the lip.  If the neurotoxin migrates to this muscle on the nose, it will cause the lip on that side to weaken and droop.

Here is the good news, it will go away, but may take up to 3-4 months.  If it is very noticeable, your physician can try to place a small amount of Dysport or Botox into the muscle on the other side to make it symmetrical and less obvious on smiling.  I would recommend you you go back and see your physician to evaluate you first and foremost.  Hope this was helpful.

Best regards.  Dr D.
