My right nostril bleeds very often, sometimes for no apparent reason at all. My nose is very slightly turned to the right (almost unnoticeable). My mom had nasal septum deviation. When I exhale through my nose much more air comes out of the right nostril than the left one, and if I block the right nostril when I inhale it's like my left nostril is congested, same thing when I exhale. I never broke my nose (at least not that I know). I think that's it. Thank you very much.
I would have to examine your nose to determine the cause of your nasal airway problem and bleeding. It may indeed be due to a septal deviation but other things such as enlarged turbinates and chronic allergy may lead to similar symptoms. See a board certified surgeon for an evaluation. Donald R. I had a septorhinoplasty with artficial graft operation six weeks ago, was healing fine but now I am finding that I am requiring pain killers because the nose feels very sore around the septum on one side is this normal
Most tenderness after surgical procedures reches a peak at 48 hours after a procedure, and then begins to go down. Increase in swelling or pain several weeks after rhinoplasty, especially with an artificial graft would be suspicious for an infection. With the advent of MRSA, I would suggest you follow up with your doctor ASAP, to have them evaluate the nose.
I've been to my ENT twice, he's advised me to get a septoplasty but I am skeptical. I've gotten a cat scan, xrays of my sinuses and could see where my septum was deviated. I'm constantly getting weak sinus infections, and those spread to my ears as I can feel congestion there and get dizzy at times. He checked my ears and said they look healthy. I've also had trouble sleeping, and have had problems with nasal drip. Dealt with it for months, most days the symptoms aren't severe but never feel 100%
If your surgeon and the CT scan reveal a significant deviation, then surgery may help. But realized that people with perfect septums can still have sinus problems and nasal drip. Donald R. Nunn MD Atlanta Plastic Surgeon
