One cheek is flatter, but i am now in a location where Voluma is not available. Can we augment the flatter cheek with Radiesse? (which would be directly over the existing Voluma product). Or, would it be better to go with a different filler?
Radiesse can be used in the same area as Juvederm without any problem. I frequently use the two products together in the midface area. Generally I find Radiesse a more effective deep filler and Juvederm or Restylane more effective for superficial augmentation. Radiesse will last longer in this area. The most important consideration is the ability of your surgeon to obtain pleasing, natural contours regardless of the specific filler used.
Is it possible to have an allergy to Radiesse? How often does this occur?
Radiesse is a soft tissue filler composed of resorbable calcium hydroxylapetite microspheres. After the material is injected into soft tissue, deposition of the patient's own collagen occurs around these microspheres while the material itself is digested by naturally occuring enzymes.
In the article entitled "Adverse reactions to soft tissue fillers " published in the January 2011 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, allergic reactions to Radiesse were not reported.
With regard to known adverse effects, there is a fairly high frequency of development of visible white nodules when Radiesse is injected into the lips and therefore this is not recommended. There have been rare reports of foreign body type reactions which would present as firm localized nodules or persistant swelling in an area of injection.
If you have been treated with Radiesse and believe you are having a problem, discuss this with your doctor. If you are contemplating treatment, be sure to find a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with lots of experience injecting soft tissue fillers.
I Had Radisse Injections 5 Days Ago and Still Have the Same Wrinkles and Lines???
Radiesse is a calcium based volumizing filler that is indicated for the cosmetic improvement of moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Results are typically appreciable immediately after the material is injected, however the longevity of the result is partially defendent on your body manufacturing and depositing collagen around the Radiesse particles.
Specific results of filler treatment are normally a function on the size and depth of the crease and the amount of material injected. It is possible that you may just need additional injections of Radiesse.
Discuss your concerns with your treating physician. Patient surveys have revealed that the most common cause of dissatisfaction following filler injections is under correction.
