Chin implants are really fairly safe operations. They can be placed externally under the chin or through the mouth. Infection is possible but very unlikely. Damage to the mental nerve is possible but in the hands of an experienced surgeon, very unlikely. Malposition can occur but can be fixed.

Aesthetic dissatisfaction is always possible. Video imaging pre-operatively can help avoid this endpoint.

Silicone implants can cause bone resorption and even tooth pain in occasional patients (has to do with piezo forces along the surface of the bone). Unusualy to lose this much bone but I have seen it. Reversible when implant is removed.
