If a mole is removed by shaving it off, can it recur to look worse than the original mole was (e.g. more patchy or more raised)? or would the recurring mole be similar to the original one? Many thanks
A true mole (nevus) is a full thickness lesion of the skin and if is to be removed, a full thickness excision is necessary. Shaving for the purpose of diagnosis will most often lead to a recurrence.
I used a natural mole remover called Dermatend on my leg and was left with flat, red scars.does Mederma help with this type of scar and will mederma help turn my scars back to normal skin tone? Also will it work on 1 year old scars?
Medermal does nothing to improve scars. It is a good emollient but that's about it and it's ridiculously expensive. Better to spend your money on Whizzo dust or cheap snake oil.
I am wondering why it seems that plastic surgeons do not use the method of radio surgery for mole removal? Or maybe some do? I understand there is still a sample for biopsy after removal this way, so that could not be the reason. I recently had 2 removed by excision but found out about radio surgery after the fact. I have more I will want removed in the future and if there is some reason not to use this method I would like to know. Thanks
Radio surgery (electric) generates more tissue damage than a scalpel because of the electromagnetic energy that is delivered to the remaining tissue. It can be used but a scalpel is a gentler way to do the operation.
