When Would a Patient Choose Bonding over Lumineers?

Are there any situations that still warrant bonding instead of lumineers?

A: When can you do bonding over lumineers(veneers)

There are many situations that bonding can and will be considered as ideal treatment. Your treatment plan first off should always take care of you main concerns and problems. If you have minor discrepancies and/or corrections to make a simple bonding could be a great form of treatment. This would allow you to repair or restore your oral in an even less invasive way. Veneers are a great option but they are an irreversible option. I hope this helps.

How Do I Find the Best Lumineers Dentist?

I am going to get Lumineers soon and struggling to find a way to identify the best cosmetic dentist for dental veneers. Maybe it's pretty straight forward and doesn't require special training?

A: Finding the best Lumineers dentist

Use the same guidelines you would in trying to find the best cosmetic dentist.

Look for credentials, lots of continuing education, visit a few offices, look for photos and before/after photos of the dentist's OWN work.

Remember that the dentist may place a different brand name of veneers (other than Lumineers brand) -- they may use an even better brand.

Lumineers Vs Veneers

When would you recommend lumineers instead of veneers? What factors are considered?

A: I would do regular porcelain veneers

I have yet to see a Lumineers case that I considered "aesthetically accceptable" in my mind. I agree with Dr. Jablow that they can cause ledges at the gumline and cause inflammation. This inflammation is caused from an un-natural emergence profile that that new tooth has. All a Lumineer is is a no-prep veneer. Dentistry has been doing "no-prep" veneers ever since veneers were invented. I understand you are concerned about tooth reduction. Go to an experienced cosmetic dentist and explain this to them. They can usually indicate to you that they will remain conservative in the reduction of CERTAIN areas of your tooth- not just the entire tooth.
