I had Juvederm injected into my tear troughs and upper lip last year in June. I can see the filler under my eyes still and my upper lip has a raised areas on each side. It doesn't look good at all. Should I be worried or will it eventually get better?
Fortunately, Juvederm last about a year so hopefully soon your results will return to normal. I would recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to see if your tear trough are better managed with other treatments.

Hi I got 1cc of Juvederm in each nasolabial fold 5 days ago. I bruised a bit on the left side but have noticed that I have puffiness on each side above my upper lip, medial to the nasolabial folds. I've tried to feel where the juvederm is and it doesn't feel like there is any in the area of puffiness. But I'm worried that it's going to stay like this since I haven't seen any change yet. My smile looks really weird right now & I'm going back to the Dr. in 1 week for follow up but I'm worried.
Without a physical examination it is not possible to determine if the swelling or bulge that you are feeling is actually juvederm or associated tissue edema. If you had some significant bruising in this area it may have be either of the two. In general, if a patient feels a lump but does not see it then it is best to leave it alone. If you can see the lump then some firm digital pressure on the will help to smooth it out. In the worst case, if the juvederm has migrated to an area in which filling was not desired it can be treated with chemical to melt it away.
When I went to the Dr. a few days ago to get my folds injected I was put in a different room than normal etc and the dr came in with the box( it didn't have plastic wrap that it usually does) and I didn't see the nurse open it etc. I'm concerned that I didn't get a new syringe and all the possible diseases from if it wasn't. My friend went to him and he told her he could save her filler for six months. Should I be panicking?
Juvederm is packaged with 2 syringes in each box. The plastic wrapping around the box has nothing to do with product sterility. Inside the box there are two separate plastic packages with peel off lids. The material inside the syringe should be expected to remain sterile unless the syringe is damaged or the cap is dislodged. The manufacturer recommends discarding any unused material after injection, however many practioners will save unused material from partially injected syringes. The risk of infection from a partially used syringe is probably very small. I have personally never heard of one. The safest practice is of course is to follow the manufacturer's recomendations.
