I had a small cut underneath my left eye (right where the cheekbone starts)which healed poorly since it had gotten infected. About 2 years after it had healed, I went to get a scar revision (which improved it greatly). It has been about 2.5 yrs from the scar revision and all I would really want is for it to be smoother around the edges.
In this area the skin is very thin and I would not recommend dermabrasion as an alternative to scar revision. If the scar is excised in the proper direction and heals without infection then you should get a much better result.
Hi, I have a question about Fraxel Restore. I received dermabrasion about two years ago on a few acne scars on my chin. Unfortunately, the scars looked much worse after the dermabrasion. My doctor is recommending Fraxel Restore. My main concern is the possibilty of worsening the scars, or creating a demarcation line (the doctor will only do the chin area). What is the risk involved? And, what kind of benefit do you think I will see in this situation? Thank you!
You are wise to try test areas first. I would make sure that my doctor is trained in all the different techniques of facial resurfacing and is not just recommending the only one he is able to do. Caution is the word.
im 32ys female asian, prone to keloid fromation on my arms and buttocks. I had dermal abrasion 2 days back for my acne scar on my cheeks, do i have the chances of developing keloid on my cheek after dermal abrasion?( i had dermal abrasioon once n 3 times chemical peeling in the past on my cheeks , but didnt develop keloid)
Keloid development can vary on different areas in the same patient. Some areas are more prone to bad scars than others. With a history of someone who is prone to Keloids, I would never create a new wound on their face (i.e. dermabrasion).
