How is a Chin Implant Secured?

Does a chin implant move around or is it secured?

A: Implant mobility

Implants may be secured by suture or in some cases bone screws depending on the type of implant.  In some instances the pocket made for the implant will hold it in the right position.  I do believe it is best to secure the implant in the proper position to prevent migration.  Donald R. Is there a difference in Shape of Chin Implant between Medpor and Implantech?

In terms of shape, does a Medpor chin implant differ greatly from an Implantech extended anatomical? I think an Implantech would give me a more feminine contour, but my PS swears by Medpor.

A: Implant shape

Every implant company has multiple shapes and sizes.  Some are similar and some are significantly different.  Also some may be custom made for the patient or defect to be corrected.  Donald R. Nunn MD  Atlanta Plastic Surgeon.

Can't Close Lips After Chin Implant and Rhinoseptoplasty.

I had a chin implant over two weeks ago and the swelling has gone down, though I am struggling to close my lips and look like I am sucking candy when I do. Will this improve? Could it be that my rhinoplasty pulled my upper lip upwards and the chin implant pulled my lower lip downwards?

A: Unable to close lips after rhinoplasty and chin implant

The swelling is most likely causing your problem.  This will take some time to resolve.  Discuss massage of the area with your surgeon since this may help some cases.  Donald R. Nunn MD  Atlanta Plastic Surgeon.
