For someone who has lost a lot of weight and has sagging skin, what are the typical areas that are lifted during a body lift?
The term "body lift" typically refers to a lower body lift and includes an abdominoplasty (a.k.a. tummy tuck), a lateral thigh lift, and a buttock lift. This is an extensive procedure and removes all of the excess skin and fat from the lower trunk (or lower body) area. I would recommend you have a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Should I reach my absolute goal weight before considering a body lift?
The standard criteria for being eligible for a body lift are: 1) If you have had gastric bypass surgery, you must be at least 18 months out from that surgery and; 2) You should be stable at your present weight for 6 months. With any body contouring procedure, like a body lift, the surgeons removes all excess tissue to get the best shape possible. As long as you maintain your weight the result will last forever. If your weight is not stable and you have major fluctuations in your weight after surgery, you can effect the end result.
I am a 27 year old mother of 3. I'm 5'5" and 133 lbs. Have been planning my mommy makeover for a while now and have even had a couple of consults. I am having a breast lift and implants. I was also planning a tummy tuck and it was suggested to consider a medial thigh lift as this area drives me crazy. I don't have much fat on my body, just lots of stretch marks and some saggy skin. I am not at all excited about the scars in my groin, because I've heard that they always migrate down and show, so bathing suites would be an issue. I was looking at the pics of body lifts and wondering if this would be a better option? How well does the inner thigh area get lifted? Wouldn't mind a little boost in the booty anyway... I don't mind the scar from the body lift that goes all the way around, but I don't want to do this if the thigh results aren't substantial... Any suggestions?
A lower body lift is a great option for contouring your abdomen, OUTER thighs, and lower back and buttocks. But it won't do much of anything for your inner thighs. You can always add the medial thigh lift down the road, if you choose. It sounds like the lower body lift will be the bigger bang for your buck right now--just don't expect to see much of a change in your inner thighs from it.
