Silicone Cheek Implant w/ Sutures, No Screws

does this produce a unnatural result because the implant is technically not apart of the bone, but rather just "sewed" into the soft tissue? Also, wouldn't this create dragging and a "heaviness" look that will sag more easily as you age. Basicaly as the cheek tissue inevitably sags, so will the implants sice they are sewed to the cheek and not screwed to the bone. Thanks!

A: Screws for cheek implants

Cheek implants are placed in a pocket created immediately over bone and fitted to the implant.  I have not found it necessary to use fixation screws in the majority of cases since a properly formed pocket will hold the implant solidly in place against the bone.  In patients with previous trauma and irregularity of bone I will sometimes use fixation screws.

A: Consider starting more conservatively than an implant

Without looking at your photographs it is difficult to say whether cheek implants should be considered.  One option which would give you an idea how augmenting the cheeks would look is to start by using an injectable filler.  More permanent solutions such as cheek implants could be considered later if you like the effect.

Uneven Cheeks - What Are my Treatment Options?

my cheeks are uneven, is there any possibility of making them look more symmetrical? my cheeks have been like this since birth, my parents thought that when i'l grow up, they'll even out. But now am 20, and the right cheek is much fuller than the left one.

A: Facial symmetry can be improved

Cheek asymmetry can be improved.  Most people have some asymmetry to their face on close observation.  Depending on the degree of size difference between the cheeks, treatment options may include injectable fillers, fat transfer or solid implants.  I never promise exact symmetry to my patients but substantial correction is possible from an experienced surgeon.
