Is Lower Body Lift the Only Option?

I am 25 years old. I gained about 45lbs during pregnancy. I was left with tons of stretch marks and loose skin. I went for a consultation with a surgeon in my area, and he told me that he could not perform a Tummy Tuck, and I would need a full lower body lift.

He said a regular Tummy Tuck would leave me with "dog ears" over my hips because I stretched so far onto my sides. Recently, I decided that major surgery just is not an option for me. My question is, do you think I could benefit at all from any laser treatments or liposuction?

A: Tummy Tuck and Liposuction...

If you developed excess skin and protrusion in the lower abdomen after having children, a tummy tuck is the right procedure for you. Start with the abdomen and some lipo on the sides to create nice curves and a flat tummy. The lower body like the buttocks and legs could be done separate if needed or desired by the patient at a separate sitting. A tummy tuck with the use of the harmonic technology for dissection will allow for a faster recovery and less pain after the procedure. It will also make the procedure faster if the surgeon has experience with its use. A pain pump will also help the recovery period by reducing spasms on the repaired muscles.

With the excess skin, lipo will not tighten the skin at all and will look worse. The muscle separation will not be repaired either. As for the dog ears. you can extend the incision a bit more and make them less notiezable. laser tratments will only tighten a small amount of excess skin. I have seen in my 22 year carrier, that is best to do it right first instead of cutting corners. You will not be happy and will end up having the tummy tuck any ways.

Can All of my Fat Be Removed All at Once?

I am 17 years old and I weigh 236lbs and I have always been a big size since I was a little girl, I was wondering if my skin sags and covers my private area, would it be possible to be removed and make my body look good. Also if i would be able to remove saggy skin from my arms and fat from my thighs all at once?

A: Not all of your fat can be removed at once

It is a great question. If you were a candidate for liposuction, you could not do an unsafe amount of it. You can remove, safely a large amount, but mustly from areas like your abdomen, chest, flanks, back and legs. Have to be careful with the fluid inbalance which could be a disaster. Also, there is a lot of internal fat around your organs, which can not be removed. With your weight, it is best to loose some first and then lipo areas of concern. Please go to a board certified plastic surgeon first for a proper consultation and recommendation.

Does a Body Lift Include Arm / Breast Lift?

Are arm lift and breast lift part of the body lift procedure? Those are two of the main surgeries I want, but from what I can tell, they're not actually part of a body lift.

A: Body lift could be many things

In my practice I do not usually name procedures like that. It lacks a personal design according to need. All patients require something different. Specially after loosing weight . Must patients in that category have loss of some elasticity and will require not only an abdominoplasty with extended incisions but perhaps a butt lift, arm lift and breast lift. In many occations a back lift. Make sure your doctor is very specific on your designed operation, number of stages and the detail involved. Once you understand all the detail, it will make a lot of sense to you as a consumer and patient.
