I Do Not Want the Long Scar from a Tummy Tuck. 5'2", 118 lbs, no stretch marks, skin in relatively good condidtion with only small amount of loose skin. My stomach pooches out and has significant fatty deposits. I have had 3 kids. According to my doctor, I have some muscle separation, though not severe. I have been told that I may not have enough skin and thus would also need a short vertical scar in addition to the horizontal scar. I am not dissatisfied enough with my body to accept a hip to hip scar.
Thank you for your question and pictures. I agree with your doctor that you probably do not have enough skin to do a full tummy tuck and get the incision real low. In my practice, I would recommend SamrtLipo and a mini tummy tuck. The SmartLipo will remove excess fat and help with a little more skin tightening and the mini tummy tuck will allow for tightening of the muscle and removing excess skin from the lower abdomen.
After several consultations with drs, have decided to get Liposuction, + I need a scar revision of my previous c-sect which looks like its becoming a keloid. I am 5'7, 150lbs. Question : Since I am doing a scar revision, can I include a mini tummy tuck and tighten my skin in the process as well? Is the recovery time the same for scar revision vs mini Tt? Some drs during my consult suggested only lipo while some said full tummy tuck. Not keen into full Tt cost or the length of the scar. Any advice pls?
In general terms, I usually consider liposuction if a patient appears to have good skin elasticity. If there is a lot of excess skin, then a full tummy is needed. In order to be a good candidate for liposuction and a mini tummy tuck, you would need good skin elasticity above the belly button. A mini tummy tuck will only remove excess skin below the belly button.
I cannot comment on your specific case without pictures or an examination.
When are mini tummy tucks possible without the need of general anesthesia? http://www.pelosimedicalcenter.com/tummytuck_faq.htm
Thank you for your question. This really depends on your surgeon. I do all my full tummy tuck in hospitals or surgery center under general anesthesia. All my mini tummy tucks are done under local anesthesia unless I am doing it in conjunction with another surgery that requires general anesthesia.
