please describe what is clitoral hood reduction and is it safe?
The clitoral hood is the equivalent the the foreskin on a male. On some women there is an excessive amount of skin covering the clitoris. If there is too much skin, it could pull and cause discomfort and it could decrease sensitivity during sexual activity. A clitoral hood reduction removes some of this excess skin to help alleviate patient's problems.
Thank you for your question. It really depends on why type of dissolvable stitches they used. The ones used on the skin usually dissolve in 2 -3 weeks. If it's in the vagina, we usually use stitches that take a little longer to dissolve. You should ask your doctors office since they know what stitches they used.
I cannot find any information on this technique on the internet. How is it perfomed? How is it different from a simple wedge technique? Thanks.
A wedge excision means that you remove a triangle from the center of the labia to reduce the length of the labia minor. This usually leaves a linear scar from the edge of the labia to the base where the labia minora meets the Labia majora. A modified wedge, means the instead of leaving a linear scar, the orientation is changed or modified, like making a zig-zag for example.
