I recently had fat grafting in my chin and cheeks. The nurse has explained that due to the limitation on how much fat can be extracted at once, there is not enough leftover frozen fat for my secondary fat injection. Is this extraction limitation true? Thanks a lot!
When removing fat in preparation for fat grafting to another body area, the plastic surgeon should take great care to remove fat from the donor site so that there will not be problems, such as dimpling, at the donor site. Generally, fat being removed for fat grafting is removed under much less pressure than traditional liposuction in order to help insure the survival of the fat. The limiting factors for how much fat can be removed include things like how much fat is present in the donor site, how many donor sites are available, if other procedures are being performed at the same time, etc. At Gayoso Plastic Surgery, I do not freeze fat for future use. During a fat grafting session, all of the fat that I plan to graft is removed at the surgical setting, processed in order to allow the excess fluid/serum to drain off and then placed into smaller syringes for immediate grafting.
Had fat transfer 2 weeks ago to inner thighs to correct bad lipo and wondered if there was anything I could do to help improve results and make the transfer more successful. Diet, exercise, massage, vitamins, food? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
There are a few ways to improve fat survival after fat graft surgery. The first and foremost way is to avoid smoking. Hopefully, you are not a smoker or had been warned prior to surgery. Smoking greatly diminishes blood supply to tissue. Fat graft is live tissue that is transplanted into a new body area and is relying on adequate blood supply for survival. Avoiding putting a lot of pressure on the newly grafted regions can also help improve the chances of the graft surviving. Be sure to follow your plastic surgeon's instructions closely.
I am 23 and have always had hereditary dark circles caused by tear troughs and very thin lower lid skin. 2 months ago I had restylane done. It did slightly improve the contour, though I have a dent under one eye and the darkness from underlying vasculature and muscle is still there. Now I'm hoping fat might be an option as it isn't clear. Can I have fat transfer to the area with the restylane so recent? I'm also trying to find a dr in Atl that is known to be skillful with this delicate procedure
I think it would be best to delay it a bit till the restyene is gone.Fat is a good option and a light peel might provide enough bleaching to get rid of soem of the color you have.l
