Labiaplasty Procedure Options

Are there different kinds of labiaplasty surgery?

A: Consult someone experience in labiaplasty surgery

Labiaplasty is the reduction of large labia minora. Many women frequently complain that the labia minora extends beyond the labia majora. This may cause some embarrassment with their sexual partner and a loss of self esteem. In certain occasions, this can create significant problems with exercise and clothing.

It is important to consult with a plastic surgeon experienced in this procedure. Many non-plastic surgeons perform this procedure by simply “trimming” the labia. At our office, Destin Plastic Surgery, we take into account both the cosmetic needs as well as trying to preserve the sensation of the area.

What is Gynecomastia?

What is a gynecomastia technically speaking.  I know it has to do with men with large breasts, but is this lumps or fat or something else?

A: Gynecomastia is a common condition for males

Gynecomastia is a very common condition in which the male breasts enlarge due to a variety of causes. It is relatively simple to correct with liposuction of the area. Even men with excellent physiques have had trouble shaping this area and therefore have been able to enhance their appearance with this procedure. Male cosmetic surgery has become very popular in this day and age. Our male patients make up about 40% of our base and are interested in projecting a youthful, fit physique with cosmetic surgery.

Should I Bring Pictures of Desired Noses to Rhinoplasty Consultation?

Hello, I was considering having a rhinoplasty procedure, but had some questions concerning it. I have read up on this for almost a year, but this question tends to stir up the most controversy: Would it be good for me to bring pictures in of desired noses? Second, I am a male with a very long nose, so would I be able to make my nose smaller and more defined; rather than long, and "chubby." The reason I ask this second question is because most of the before and after photos that I have seen of people with long noses has not demonstrated much difference in them. Meaning it seems as if the surgeon only made slight decreases in his/her nose. Why is this?

A: Rhinoplasty should suit your facial features

Patients who undergo nasal surgery regard the procedure on a personal basis. Usually, an individual will want surgery for the following reasons:

1) they feel their nose is out of proportion to their face,

2) a particular feature gives their nose an unusual appearance, or

3) to correct a deformity from previous injury or surgery.

People rarely request a “perfect” nose. They understand that a perfect nose is a rare occurrence not usually seen naturally or after having had surgery. Variations of the appearance of the nose that give the person a unique shape or appearance are considered “elegant discrepancies.” Rarely are these features changed by surgery or requested to be changed.

Following the nasal surgery, the nose should have a proportional shape without an “operated on” appearance.
