I got a blepharoplasty three weeks ago and one of my lower eyelids is drooping. I am 58 yrs old and in good health. I am putting ointment in my eye and taping it into place every night and massaging it several times per day. After the first week, the eyelid came up a bit but no progress has been made in the last two weeks. My surgeon says she can put a stitch in the corner of my eye to pull the lid up if it does not improve. Is this the best way to fix it? How long should i wait?
I would urge a very conservative action at this time. Continue with your massaging and eyedrops as often as you can. Time will definitely lead to a better result for you. At the moment I think further surgery performed too soon to the time of your original surgery may creats even more swelling to the lower eyelid. I can't discount the possibility for the need for further surgery, but without examinig you it is hard to give you serious recommendations. Always follow the advice of your Plastic Surgeon or Oculoplastic Surgeon.
Good luck to you.

On August 27, 2010, I had my upper and lower eyelids operated on while I was on vacation in Thailand. The pictures were taken today, day 47. I am experiencing a saggy right eye, and lid looseness in both eyes. My question is, is this going to get better, or will I need a further operations to correct this. I will not be going back to Thailand. Additional Photos: http://www.realself.com/review/thailand-eyelid-surgery-bad
A better picture would be to see you in a straight on position without you tilting your head down, but it does appear that you do have some tightening to the lower lids which is called ectropion. It is a little early to tell you whether any corrective surgery is needed for this condition or not. This decision would be made 6 months after the original surgery. In the meantime massage the lower lids in a gentle upward direction as often as you can, keep the eyes as lubricated as you can with Lacrilube, particularly at night when the eyes may tend to dry out more frequently, and continue to follow whatever advice is given to you by your Plastic Surgeon. You need to be followed by a qualified surgeon during this healing process.
Good luck.

I had surgery 12/16/11. I am so disappointed and depressed over my results. The right eye retracted but has come back some. My left eye incision appears to have gone awry. Also, the lower left eyelid swelling is not going away. That incision can't be normal. Please help.
It is too early to make any decisions about how you are doing. Don't get depressed about where you are at this time. Your incisions are still red and swollen, but this should change over the next several weeks and months. Trust the advice that was given to you by your Plastic Surgeon. Continue to follow whatever recommendations are given to you.
Good luck to you.
