I did a 25% TCA chemical peel 2 days ago and it did as I expected. When my skin turned brown and became leathery some of it started to peel. I went to peel those off and the skin came off pretty easly but now it's red and burns a little. I've been putting neosporin on it and if I try to apply any other creams it burns my face so I wash it off and put back on neosporin. It has only been 3 days so should I just be patient and keep applying the neosporin? The sunscreen burns too so I stay in doors
Doing a 25% TCA peel at home was certainly brave of you! I generally wouldn't recommend this. There are potential complications that can occur, even at this strength.
Continue to coat the healing areas with aquaphor or some other bland emollient ointment. It probably needs more time to heal....but for any detailed questions, you will need to see a local physician.
This is really not an "at-home" procedure.
I had a depressed chicken pox scar and it have gone through Scar Revision on January. However the revision failed and the scar opened up and now it's still depressed and wider. on February I had dermabrasion on the spot which made it even more wider but filled up the indent little bit. All these choises have been made by my dermatologist. He now says that he will use a filler on this soon. So: After he uses the filler, can i use TCA Peel on it ? the outer skin looks gross from stitches
These are often challenging to treat. I don't think that TCA is the "right tool for the job" here. It won't really help either the color or the depression.
You may need a surgical scar revision to improve the width, or laser treatments to tone down the redness.
See a local plastic surgeon to discuss your best options.
I am a African America male, And I have acne scarring all over my face, with the worst being on both sides of my chin. Also, what would be the best way to prepare for a peel? I plan on getting the procedure done within the next 6 weeks.
I would not recommend a TCA for you. In general, TCA peels are riskier for darker skin tones - with either a loss of pigment, or darker - than -desired pigmentation occurring.
There are other peels, that are less risky, that you should consider. See your local plastic surgeon or dermatologist for a consultation in this regard.
Alternatively, non-ablative laser technology is another possible option for you.
Best wishes,
