I have medium brown skin (carribean descent) with rosacea and acne vulgaris. Age 49. Most redness and swelling on nose around nostril area. Swollen red painful bumps. Acne vulgaris clusters of them on cheek and around space over top of mouth area, a few small pimples on forehead. What would work best. Vipeel, or pulsed dye laser. I have been told no IPL due to my dark complexion. Thanks.
You may need a topical antibiotic, Solodyn orally, or a low-potency steroid to reduce redness. The Pulse Dye laser can be used safely on Fitz 3-4, but at lower settings. A Test spot is always a good idea before committing to treating darker skinned patients. Dr. G.
I had breakout for 5 years went on antibiotics and topical treatments and Now it has more or less stopped. However the acne always leaves behind red marks that do not fade with time and increases.I discovered that PDL isthe gold standard to remove the redness as it's due to presence of many tiny cappilaries in the skin whic developed when there is a pimple to supply inflammatory cells to rid of the bacteria. when the pimple subsides the cappilaries fails to decoagulate thus leaving the red marks. How successful is this?
We use the PDL (from Candela) on a regular basis to remove capillaries, redness, and bumps from acne scars. It works very well for your condition, costs are low, and results are outstanding. Dr. G
I had cancer on my face. Had the surgery to remove it. Now it looks like I have a lightning bolt on my face. The dermatologist did some sanding on it. Doesn't look much better. Went to a cosmetic laser center. He did a laser procedure still isn't much better. In a couple of weeks I am having the pulsed dye laser treatment done. Do you think this will work to get rid of the scar. I just want it gone. I had the surgery a year ago. Please respond! Thank you,
We use the Pulse Dye Laser to reduce facial scars, frequently following skin cancer surgery or laceration repairs. It is best to begin treatments w/ in 6 months, as emerging science shows better responses w/ earlier laser therapy. It will reduce the redness, swelling and appearance of your scar.
