Tummy Tuck and Augmentation-171 Lbs-5'2-lost 100- How Do I Prepare?

I am scheduled for a Tummy tuck & augmentation in 17 days. I lost 100 lbs over 3 yrs. Now 5'2-171 lbs and I can't loose any more-the lower abdomen below the naval has a considerable amount of hanging skin. I am going out of state for surgery. I have been on Medifast diet for 3 months to get to lowest weight before surgery. Should I go on a clean eatting plan? How can I best prepare?

A: preparing for tummy tuck

I think you are doing fine.I would recommend getiing clearance from your internist before your surgery. As long as your weight has been stable for several months go for it.I wouldn't have it done and then lose another 20 or more pounds.Congratulations!

Can a Diastasis Recti Repair Go Back To Pre-Op Status Because of "Inherent Weakness" of My Fascia?

I am a male with a 36" waist. I had my large diastasis recti repaired (surgery) in December 2010. The result was stunning. But the situation gradually reoccurred and the appearance now is the same as before. The surgeon blames it on "the inherent weakness of your fascia". He says such a condition is rare and that it could not be anticipated before surgery.

A: recurrent diastasis

There are a number of reasons for recurrence and you may not be able to determine what was the exact cause.

What you should consider if you are gong to redo the procedure is to use some additional material to reinforce your own tissue.  After all if this occurred spontaneously it may be that your tissue was inherently weak and so this will recur if something different is not tried.

There are a number of synthetic mesh products on the market and allograft materials made out of dermis which can help to reinforce the weaker tissue.

Thank you for your question and good luck.

Should I Get a Mini Tummy Tuck or a Full? is There Any Non Surgical Options for Me? (photo)

So I had a baby 3 years ago and this completely ruined my stomach. I am 21 years old, I exercise regularly and have been trying EVERYTHING to get rid of this. Before pregnancy I was 115 lbs, I ended up weighing 180 lbs the day before delivery. Finally down to 133 lbs I am about ready to be able to wear a bikini. Is there any other options then surgery for me? I plan on having this done by june so please let me know soon!

A: Full vs Mini Tummy Tuck

I find most patients who are interested in a tummy tuck need a full tummy tuck rather than a mini.  Most patients have some laxity of the skin above the belly button, which you have.  The other reason is laxity of the muscle layer which is tightened as part of the procedure. There are no nonsurgical procedures which would give you any benefit at all.

Consult with a couple of plastic surgeons in your area and choose the one with whom you are most comfortable. Thank you for your question.
