I am 19 and weight about 200 lbs. I have a thyroid problem and I have gone to numerous doctors and nutritionists and I work out everyday. I do not hate my body nor do I want liposuction to be used as a weight loss aid. I really want to know if it could help contour my body, namely my arms and my abdomen. I don't mind the size of my abdomen just the look it has. I just want to know if liposuction would help that.
Liposuction is not a weight reducing surgery. Rather it is a contouring procedure that only removes fatty deposits in the abdomen. A tummy tuck reduces the excess skin, fat and abdominal wall muscle tightening, trading off for a lower horizontal hip to hip scar.
However in your individual case , I would first consider weight loss and schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Often liposuction combined with a tummy tuck is an optimal surgery for body contouring.
I'm considering a tummy tuck with liposuction. I read the results of a study that the fat cells redistribute after such procedures. My question is do these procedures make weight loss more difficult after surgery? Is there a correlation to the weight of the fat cells removed and weight gain after surgery? What is the optimum bmi of body fat procedure for a tummy tuck? Can Is it possible to achieve optimum results from a tummy tuck with out liposuction of areas such as the flanks?
This is a tough question to answer. It has not been my experince that the fat cells come back.however there are remaining fat cells and they can ballon up with fat so you can't go out and eat cream pies all day.
Hi, I'm a little over 2 weeks post op from liposuction on my upper, lower abs and flanks. I received from my PS Spanx Super Higher Power compression garment. I do not like this option for a few reasons: one, I don't like the compression on my legs AND I don't like the open crotch (the slit is kinda small and doesn't seem "clean"). I'm wondering if there is something out there similar to my stage 1 garment (just something that wraps around my stomach and allows me to wear my reg underwear)
I think how much compression you depends on the expected degree of skin laxity post lipo.Wearing a spandex type garment is good for support and allowing the skin to compress. Many of my patients like the spandex suits worn by bicycle riders.
