I have a bad keratosis pilaris on my legs and upper arms it looks like little red bumps and they get worse when it's cold. Sometimes hair gets trapped too. What can i do?
KP is not an isolated condition and is a result of your genetics. Thus, any improvement in your KP by procedure or cream is temporary because the cells in your skin are programmed to produce it. 20% of the American population has KP, so you are not alone.
Dermabrasion is definitely not a treatment for KP
I've been taking accutane for 9 days(2 months ago)I don't know what happend, but my skin become thin, and very fragile. Now I have some texture changes like very shallow rolling scars(about 0.2-0.5 mm depth)can this scars be leveled with skin and what is the best method for this type of scarring?I must say that scars are soft and nontethering.also, when can i do any type of treatment, since my skin is very poor healing and i have redmarks for months and prior Accutane never had this problem! help!
Accutane leads to an atrophy of sebaceous glands within the skin, leading to a delay of or problems with healing when injury has occurred. Any form of resurfacing is contraindicated for 1 year after a course of Accutane. After 1 year, your options for acne scarring would include Dermabrasion and fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing.
Hi, I'm considering dermabrasion for my acne scars. Most of my scars are 0.2-0.5 mm deep. Is the dermabrasion the right one or should I go for the laser? Thanks.
Dermabrasion is quite effective for acne scarring, especially for the relatively shallow scars you describe. However, if you have an Asian skin type, special care must be taken to avoid sun exposure before, and after the procedure because of the risk of postoperative hyperpigmentation. I would also recommend use of topical 4% hydroquinone to minimize the risk of postoperative hyperpigmentation
