What Is a Good Implant Size For My Flat Chest? I'm a Figure Competitor.

Im 5"2 120lbs, 34A maybe B very saggy completely flat. If I wear a t-shirt no bra and stand to the side you can see nothing. My PS wants me to get 400cc unders and disect medial portion of the muscle. I am a figure competitior and I dont want to be too large and I'm worried about the cutting of my muscle. I only want to be a C. Any advice?

A: Picking the correct size implant

Every patient is different and every patient has a different goal in mind for this particular operation. The most important thing you can do is not decide on a number of cc's first or a  cup size but communicate with your surgeon about what you would like to look like after the procedure.

Photos of other women with your body type may be helpful.   I, like most plastic surgeons use measurements to narrow down the range of implants which would work well for the individual patient. Next, I have patients try implant sizers because this gives a very close approximation of what patients will look like after surgery.

I much prefer that patients like the way they look and whatever cup size that works out to be we will see after surgery when the patient gets measured.

Thank you for your question and best of luck.

Is It Common for Breast Implant Incisions to Rip Open?

My breast incision ripped during my massaging techniques 25 days post op. My massaging techniques were assigned to my from my PS. Is there any reason why this would happen? Is it a common mishap? I rushed to my PS and he numbed and cleaned me and stitched me right back up in his OR. He put me on two different types of antibiotics. I didn't show signs of infection when he saw me and he said that my internals looked healthy. Why did I rip open then? Can this happen again?

A: Augmentation incision "rips" open

It is not common for this or any incision to open at 25 days after surgery. If it is the result of massaging too aggressively, you certainly are massaging too aggressively. The massage does not need to be that aggressive.

The risk with this operation is exposure of the implant.

By your description it appears as though your doctor treated you appropriately and I would follow up closely with him over the next couple of days and weeks.

Thank you for your question.

3 Months Postop 500cc Implants with Internal Lift. Is It Normal They're Still Firm?

im 3 months post op breast implants size 350 overfilled to 500cc. i like the size but they are still firm. will they soften up and feel more natural in over the next few months?

A: Firm breast implants

There are essentially two reasons that breast implants may be firm.  One is the development by your body of excess scar tissue around the implant.  This scar tissue can contract around the implant and make it feel firm or hard and in some cases it may be painful.

The other situation with saline implants is overfilling.  The saline implants have a specific range to which they should be filled.  If they are overfilled the shell will be tighter and the implant will feel firmer and it will have a more spherical shape.

Follow up with your plastic surgeon.  By examining you he or she should be able to tell you which issue accounts for your implants feeling firm.

Thank you for your question.
