Since I was in the 9th grade I have had a belly. Im now 22 and I have tried everything to get rid if it.. I HATE THIS BELLY!! I'm turning 23 in August n I want to look fab,so I was thinking of smartlipo. I havnt worn a bikini since I was 12, n now that I'm grown I would like to feel sexy and confident n whatever I wear. But I am engaged n I do want kids. Can I do the smartlipo and still have a baby n a year or two?
Hi there-
While Smart Lipo would not be my first choice for your abdomen (higher risks of rippling and waviness, and a greater risk of injury to blood vessels and nerves without measurable benefit over safer alternatives), there should not be a reason that you could not pursue a body contouring procedure and still become pregnant next year.
On the other hand, if you are really planning to become pregnant that soon, I would probably advise that you consider an option that is less invasive, in the interest of more closely pairing the intervention, its risks, its recovery, and its outcome with the length of time you will likely be able to benefit from it.
It somehow doesn't make a lot of sense to go through an operation, recovery, etc, for only a year of benefit- especially if you could be just as happy without surgery.
I would consider Coolsculpting- but first you need to find out if you are a candidate for it. The best way to proceed is to find a good surgeon Certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery who offers both state-of-the-art body contouring procedures and Coolsculpting and visit for a consultation.
Good luck.
Can someone explain what is Smart Lipo? how is smartlipo different from normal liposuction surgery?
Smartlipo is simply a fine canula with a laser on the end that is purported to melt away fat and make liposuction more comfortable and decrease recovery. The reality is that liposuction with a laser is about as useful as the sharks with lasers mounted to their heads in the Autin Powers movie. It is largely marketing. The device haas been well studied and simply does not work as well as traditional liposuction which is the reason you will find very few true plastic surgeons using this machine. This is the reason that 'smart liposuction is dangerous! The company markets to all kinds of doctors that they can take a course over the weekend, learn the technique and enhance revenue in their practice. It is simply not safe for non plastic surgeons to perform liposuction. Results can be anywhere from unnoticeable change to horrific.
For in office liposuction procedures I use a waterjet liposuction machine manufactured by the company humanmed. I like this device because there is a continuos administration of the tumsecent solution which makes it painless and bleeding free. The waterjet also helps break up the fat so there is less force applied and the patients are more comfortable.
The most impor4tant part of your procedure is not the device but rather the hand holding the device!
I hope this helps!

I have high blood pressure when I get nervous so im going to get really nervous with local anesthetic, can I tell the dr. to perform the smartlipo triplex on my tummy and double chin with general anesthetic instead, so I can be fully asleep and not feel any stabbing pains? Because I heard you even feel pain when theyre injecting you the local on all areas.
There are always different anesthesia options and it depends on your needs and the surgeon's comfort. If you would like the procedure performed under general anesthesia then you should tell your Plastic Surgeon. As long as you are medically cleared, your surgeon should be able to offer this choice. You should be prepared to pay an additional fee for the anesthesiologist.
