Swelling 14 Days After Lower Face Lift - Should I Be Concerned?

14 days after lower face lift the left side of my face remains swollen. On waking from the anaesthetic I had difficultly closing my left eye which still causes me problems. I have no conrol to the left side of my nose or left side of upper lip.As I talk my mouth becomes very twisted. I have severe bilateral muscle pain when talking or eating. My PS prescribed prednisolne 2.5mg twice daily and valium 2.5mg three times daily. Is this unusual and should I be concerned as my plastic surgeon is not.

A: Swelling after facelift

I would be concerned. Sounds like a motor nerve injury. May improve with time and steroids but may not.

Neck and Lower Facelift Are Too Tight

I had a lower face and neck lift one week ago and there is a tight band extending across my neck from ear to ear. The tension is at best uncomfortable, often painful, and occasionally actually triggers a gag reflex. Is there anything that can be done to alleviate this tension? I couldn't live this way long term. I had a submental platysmaplasty, and sutures around and behind the ear.

A: Tightness after Facelift

The submental platysmaplasty was probably done too tight....I would suggest having your surgeon loosen or undo it.

How to Give my Face a Contoured, Feminine Shape?

I am 21 years old, in good health (5'4 at about 120-125 pounds) and face is too round and has no real shape. I already had a rhinoplasty and chin implant which helped my profile but not my frontal view in the least. I have no double chin or excess fat on my neck but there is excess fat around the jawline/lower chin/jowl area. Can liposuction help? What other procedures would you recommend for me to give my face a nice shape? Buccal fat removal? Jaw implant? Sliding genioplasty? Thanks.

A: No more surgery

Probably not. Most likely with activity there is still some tendency to get dependent edema from  still reactve tissues.
