Itching and Tram Lines 3 Weeks After Smart Dot, How To Correct This?

had a second smartdot this time i have itching and tram lines left on my neck, also my skin feels like sandpaper ,when i look close under a good light i can see all the dots ,can someone explain why this would happen as i had no problems 1st time round, can i have a tca peel to get rid off the dots or would another laser be better.

A: Itchiness, lines, sandpaper texture after fractional resurfacing

This is not an easy question to answer without a bit more information.  I am not sure if your first treatment was also done on the neck area.  Perhaps you can gain some reassurance knowing that the dots you see are likely a good sign.  The rate at which the skin cells turnover on the neck is slower than that on the face.  What you are experiencing can be completely normal.  I would not recommend a tca peel at this time.  If you are the least bit concerned, call your doctor.  Good luck!

Has Anyone Had Any Success Treating Dermal Melasma in Fitzpatrick IV Using Laser?

I have terrible melasma - I used Obagi which made my condition worse and pigmentation has come back darker. It is very depressing. I am considering Revlite Q-Switched Nd:Yag laser has anyone used this or ANY laser to help with his awful condition? I've basically ruled out Fraxel and IPL because I've read on numerous occassions that these worsen the condition. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks

A: Melasma treatments

Hey Carla!

You are right Melasma is a very common but difficult problem to treat!

I would avoid any laser treatments especial in the climate zones that expose you to much sun since once you get treated with a laser and are exposed to the sun the Melasma may recur and actully be worse.

Tretinoin (Retin-A), Bleachers such as Hydroquinon 4% and mild type of topical steroids help reduce the pigment!

Unfortunately we have no cure for Melasma!

Your most importent line of defense is Sun protection with an SPF of at least 30 and above with Titanium an Zinc!

Good luck !!!

First Degree Burn After Laser Treatment, What Should I Do?

i am 24 years old and had some folliculitis under my stomach and down my bikini line i have brown/ dark skin i had my laser treatment done last week but my laser dr i think burned me with 1 degree burn because the skin got very dark and some blister came as well but only some i went back and he said its normal because its superficial, now its one week later and my crust is gone and its pink skin all over. will this leave any hypo/hyper pigmentaion? dr said it will fade in with my skin in 2weeks?

A: Treatment for burns after laser

Sorry to hear about your experience ! The good news is that time is your friend and many of these problems improve with time. If you have an open wound it should be treated with antibiotic ointment such as bacitracin. Once the open wounds heal a topical lotion as 0.1%hydrocortisonewill reduce the possibilty of what is called PIH or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Use it for at least a month under doctor supervision. A must is sun avoidance and sunblock of 30 to 50 SPF. If darkening continues use of tretinoin (Retin-A), hydroquinon 4% and other bleaching creams such as NIA 24 all with follow up with you doctor.if still hyper pigmented after 3 to 6 months other laser treatments may help. A more difficult problem is hypo pigmentation or light areas such my be treated with laser as well or tattoos.

Good luck
