Fraxel Repair or Lift for the Whole Face and Neck?

I had an endoscopic brow lift in 2004. It still looks great. However, my mouth wrinkles are bad and neck needs a little help! I have some sun damage all over. I'm confused about going with Fraxel Repair for the whole face and neck or some type of lift. Please help. I am 56 years old.

A: Fraxel Repair vs Erbium results + neck lift

Because of the nature of old CO2 laser technology Fraxel cannot deliver significant results without basically becoming an expensive nonfractional CO2 treatment with prolonged redness and swelling because of extensive thermal and coagulative damage.  This is why I use only an Erbium beam which allows focused and controlled treatment of the skin through exact microchannels preserving 90% of the skin to help quickly regenerate and lay down collagen.  As far as your neck you will want some variation of platysmaplasty to correct your banding and laxity.  A laser will not give you satisfactory results for your neck.  I hope this helps!

Fotofacial and Refirme for Wrinkles, Pores, and Skin Tightening?

I am considering Fraxel Repair by a dermatologist in Atlanta at the cost of $5,000. I am trying to research as much as I can and have consulted with others about what would be best. My concerns are wrinkles around my mouth, pores, and would like to achieve some tightening all over. Reading the reviews, I'm a little shy about side effects. Would having FotoFacial RF and Refirme with more treatments be just as effective?

A: fractional resurfacing: use an Erbium beam!

my recommendation is to stay far away from RF and US energy in the face.  Fractional therapy with frxel will certainly help but is limited by the nature of the old CO2 technology.  A Profractional Erbium laser can deliver deeper more controlled results and has muchnless recovery, redness and potential complications.  I hope this helps!

Fraxel Repair Effective on Mouth and Chin Wrinkles?

I have wrinkles on my chin at 46 and the area around my mouth is finely lined. The skin is uneven near my mouth, and I have small laugh lines. My dermatologist suggested a Fraxel Repair treatment at a setting of 40 around my mouth and chin, with a lighter setting on my cheeks and eyes. My eyes aren't too bad but starting to get bags and a little bit of crows feet. I want my chin to smooth out most of all. For all the doctors and experienced patients. What say you?

A: the best fractional laser therapy: Erbium profractional

I personally do not like fraxel as it is based on CO2 laser technology.  The idea behind fractional treatment is that you can deliver a very deep treatment without a horrendous recovery and risk of complications.  The nature of CO2 laser technology doesnt realluy allow this.  The tiny channels have extensive spread of heat and coagulation resulting in tremendous redness and recovery if significant energy is delivered. I choose to use Profractional Erbium lasers produced by Sciton.  The unique features of high wavelength Erbium beam lasers is that I am able to deliver true microchannels all the way through the skin into the subq with clear borders and little to no coagulation and heating in the untreated tissue.  This allows more robust healing and safety with high energy deep in the skin.  The results and limited recovery are exceptional.  The laser is less common because it is much more expensive but this is really the choice of some of the best plastic surgeons and it is the only deep resurfacing laser that I am willing to use on my patients.  I hope this helps!
