Choosing the Right Profile Implants for Revision Surgery?

I currently have high profile Silicone Breast Implants as part of Breast reconstruction due to breast cancer. I'm not happy with the projection and will be having revision surgery Sept 8th. What should I choose for my replacement?

My surgeon says I could go with the moderate plus or moderate. We are trying to achieve more volume above nipple line and collarbone without going over into armpit area.

A: Right implants for revision breast surgery

If you feel that your reconstructed breasts have too much projection, then moderate or moderate+ implants may be an appropriate choice. These implants can give you a more fill above the nipple line while providing a less projection. The two implant manufucters label their implant styles differently so make sure you talk to your surgeon about which exact implant and style he/she is planning to use.

Moderate or High Profile for Breast Implant Revision?

I have Saline breast implants (425cc) now that I have had for 10 yrs. I am having them redone and having a hard time deciding between HP (High Profile) or Moderate.

I want to go a little bigger and was told either a 650cc HP or 550cc Moderate. I am worried that 650cc would be too big but 550cc moderate would make me look smaller than I am now. What should I go with?

A: Moderate vs High Profile Breast Implants

It is hard to estimate what size implant you would need without examining your breasts. I understand that you have 10 year old implants. Do you have a signifianct capsular contracture?

Usually in a re-augmenation with a significan capsular contracture, I prefer to use high profile implants that are bigger than what is present. Because it is difficult to judge the right size implant after a capsulectommy, I usually use sizers to help select the best implant size.

Your surgeon is the best judge of the appropriate implant style and size. Make sure you voice all of your concerns directly with your surgeon.

Good luck.

Breast Implant Type and Size to Go from B to C Cup?

I am 5'2, 118 lbs, and 34B. I am getting breast augmentation in 6 weeks. My plastic surgeon said I don't need a mastopexy. I do have a drop of 19 on one side and 20 on the other. I want to be a full C. What size and breast implant type should I go with?

A: Breast implant type and size

You sound like the typical patient I see. If your dimensions are in centimeters, then it is unlikely that you would require a lift. Without looking at your breast tissue it is hard to estimate an implant size. However, I usually prefer either the moderate (Allergan) or moderate + (Mentor) implant for a primary augmentation. I prefer silicone gel implants beacuse I find they give a more natural feel with less wrinkling. In most patients either a saline or silicone gel implant will work fine.

Good Luck!
