I am having lipo of abs and flanks on 2-28-11 and I was wondering if after I recover I want to lose an additional 10lbs would it have a negative effect on my results??

A: Weight loss after liposuction

Losing weight after liposuction greatly enhances your results.  I encourage all of my liposuction patients to try to lose a few pounds after having liposuction.

Inner/Outer Thigh Lipo Bulge from Garment

I had inner/outer liposuction of the thighs 5 days ago. The surgical center did not put on the compression garment correctly and the top of my inner thighs bulged out of the pubic hole. Went to doc today and thighs looked good except for huge bulges at top of thighs. They helped put on garment correctly. Will these bulges go away or could they become permanent?

A: Bulge above liposuction garment I have seen this happen before when the liposuction girdle was not pulled up high enough. The girdle pushed the extra skin up high and it never flattened out smoothly. I had to do a minor touch up in the office with local anesthesia. Sometimes you can correct this if you reposition the girdle early on.

If I Resume Running After 2 Weeks Post Thigh Liposuction Will I Damage Myself?

I went to the gym for the first time today post op and did 30 minutes on the cross trainer followed by upper body weights..and felt great after. I was a half marathon runner pre my thigh liposuction and am desperate to resume running asap but am scared that I might damage or permanently damage my thighs if I start high impact exercising... BUT I need to exercise.. Can you give me a realistic exercise programme that I can start tomorrow?

A: Running 2 weeks after liposuction

I tell my patients that they can run 2 weeks after liposuction.  You are not going to damage anything by running.  However, I would check with your operating surgeon, since everyone does things differently.
