Treatment for Naso Labial Folds and Sunken Eyes?

I'm 33. The area around my eye orbit is begining to sink in a little. It's not as smooth as it was years back. What is the best solution that won't put a dent in my wallet? I tried botox and it made my problem worse around the eyes. Is that possible?

A: The sunken eye appearance can occur with the aging process

The sunken eye appearance can occur with the aging process. Botox is not the best treatment since it really is only useful to treat dynamic eyelid lines that result from smiling. Static lines are best treated with a resurfacing procedure like the laser or a medium chemical peel. As far as the sunken areas, those can be filled with injectable fillers like hyaluronic acid such as Juvederm or Restylane. Alternatively, fat can be transposed to that area as a more permanent solution.

Skin Around the Scar Stretches with Every Skin Resurfacing Procedure

I've had skin resurfacing procedures done several times, and each time the skin surrounding the scar stretches 4-5 weeks later. Is it a hormonal collagen reproduction problem, and is there something I can do about it?

A: Laser resurfacing causes skin tightening

When you undergo a laser resurfacing procedure, several things happen to your skin and any surrounding scars. The skin becomes thinner and more compact which is a good thing since it looks refreshed and more youthful. Also, any scars or wrinkles are stretched during the resurfacing procedure which results in a more taught appearance to the skin making the scars less visible or the wrinkles less visibe. It is similar to ironing a shirt or blouse. Also, collagen formation is increased and this results in additiional skin tightening and improved appearance to the skin. Sometimes multiple resurfacing procedures may be required to give the best results.
