Which of the procedure is better for Hair transplant: Follicular unit extraction or strip hair transplant?
Hi there-
There is a great new technique available in a few areas of the country (including our Orlando Plastic Surgery, Skin Care, and Hair Restoration Center) called the Neograft, that allows Follicular Unit Extraction WITHOUT a linear scar on the back of your head.
We are incredibly impressed with the procedure, the easier recovery, and the outcomes. Our patients are incredibly happy.
Find a qualified doctor near you skilled in the Neograft technique. You'll be glad you did.
I had a hair transplant of about 2,600 follicular unit extraction (FUE) grafts Nov 08. New hair is now visible in the frontal area, but it is sparse and I'm unhappy with the looks. Though most of the grafts were put in the frontal area of head, I had quite a few in the vertex area too, where so far I haven't seen any growth or changes. I'm now near the 6th month after surgery. What can I expect from this point on? What are my chances of having further improvement? Thanks!
Hi there-
It is possible, but very unlikely, that you will get further growth at 6 months...
I would visit your doctor and discuss your situation.
I have a 2 cm. linear scar within my beard as a result of a mole removal I had last year. Can I get hair transplant over this type of scar? Does the transplanted hair suvive within such scar?
Hi there-
Given the location of the scar, it may be difficult to achieve the best outcome from scar revision (I would need to examine you to be sure...)
An excellent alternative for you to consider would be to have hair transplanted into the scar.
This is only a good option if it can be done for you in the Follicular Unit Extraction technique, in which hair is harvested and then grafted in individual follicular units.
In my Orlando Plastic Surgery, Skin Care, and Hair Restoration Center, we are trained in the use of an amazing new technology for hair restoration, called the Neograft- this would be an excellent option for you. Unfortunately, there are not many of these devices in the US as of yet- but if you can find someone near you trained in its use, I think you would achieve the fill you desire.
