Does the Tip of the Nose Eventually Slim Down After Jaw Surgery?
A: Jaw surgery and nasal appearanceSurgery on your jaw should not change the overall width or size of your nose. That being said perhaps there is some swelling just from the trauma of the surgery that should resolve. Sometimes your nose can appear longer or shorter after jaw surgery especially if the position of your chin changes as the profile may make the nose appear to have changed when in reality it has not. I would wait at least six months after your jaw surgery to make sure that you want to alter your nasal appearance when all of the additional swelling resolves.
Best Treatment of Forehead Scar on a 3 Yr Old?
Doc. recommended Fraxel for my 3 yr old son who has a small scar on his forehead from a fall two months ago. Dermabond glue was used to treat the cut. It's healed but there is a scar there. Is Fraxel the best treatment to reduce the scar?
A: Scar treatment in young patientsSince the scar is relatively new, I would recommend over the counter scar treatments like mederma or scar fade gel. While the Fraxel might be helpful, the scar may do fine on its own without any treatment as is usually the case in younger children. You always have time in lets say six months or so to treat the scar if you so desire at that time.
What Would Your Recommend For Burn Scar Contracture?
I have third degree burns on my stomach. I have had skin graft didnt take and wound vac on 3 months. Now that scar is healing I have scar contracture which effecting muscles and nerves. What is the best treatment surgically and non surgically for me since my doc is not skin specialist he advised he cant help.
A: Treatment for burn contracturesAt this point, I would recommend that you have your scars evaluated by a plastic surgeon as there may be other treatment options available to you at this time. Sometimes lasers can help to improve the scar but if it is tethered you may need a scar revision.
