I had a cheek implant before 1 year and 5 months. There`s more swelling in the right face then in the left face (leading to asymetry for now).I look like a ball-face sometimes and sometimes more sculpted and less ball-like face . I don`t know when this nightmare is going to stop. I`m hiding from people. Do big cheek implants or small sheek implants make the face ball-like looking? And can it be that I must still wait to get rid of this ball appearance? (hint: I still have swelling, bruising a little
If you are that far out from your cheek implants and not happy with the results, I would see your treating surgeon to discuss options for either removal or repositioning of the implants. A ball-like appearance typically means larger implants were used.
I have cheek implants and I know only after 2 weeks they are clearly too big for my face, they sit on the bone and i can see the outline, they are very harsh across the cheek and that is only going to get worse as the remaining 10% of swelling subisdes. I either need them revised/sculpted down during revision surgery, or if that is not possible, I would have them removed. The former choice is my preference? Is that a possibility using my current implants?
I would certainly wait several months for the swelling to resolve. That being said if you are really unhappy, it is much easier to remove the implants sooner than later. Medpor is a very, very difficult material to remove once it is incorporated into the surrounding tissues. In my experience any attempts at modifying the implant once it has been placed typically leads to infection requiring removal of the implants. I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon before proceeding.
I had cheek implants done in 1998. They have been quite successful in giving me a more youthful appearance. However, I am now 65 and have lost volume in my lower face with some lines and cheek hollowing and a genetic asymmetry in my cheek size becoming more apparent with the fat loss. Can Sculptra be used OVER the existing implants as well as in the submalar area. I don't want large cheeks, just a somewhat fuller face with lines minimized. I'm told I have good skin quality for my age.
Thank you for the non uncommon question.
In my 10 years of using Sculptra abroad and later in the USA, I have had this request before. It was my experience to use the Sculptra in the subcutaneous space over the implant with no problems.
