How to Find out if I Need a Mini or a Full Tummy Tuck?

Is there any chance a mother of 3 can have a mini tummy tuck? What is the criteria? I do weight training since I was a teenager and although I think my muscles are a little stretched I can only place a finger between them . I am 5.4 and my weight is 115 pounds.

A: Tummy Tuck?

The key to any surgery is patient satisfaction.  If the deformity is smaller than what can reasonably be accomplished by an operation, then it  would be prudent to recommend against such a procedure. Your photo's demonstrate a slight bulging that might be improved with rectus fascia plication. But, you also might not appreciate a difference. Hope this is helpful and the best of luck to you.

Exteme Abdominal Swelling 8 Months After Mini Tummy Tuck?

5 weeks post surgery of a mini tummy tuck I woke up lookig at least 6 months preganant. It has been 8 months and I have had CT scans & ultrasounds. Exercise causes more swelling w/extreme discomfort. My surgeon says I just need to lose weight although I have had no weight gain since the surgery.

A: Prolonged swelling after a tummy tuck

Patients who have a mini tummy tuck should anticipate a significant recovery process. We tell patients that they can expect swelling, bruising, and some discomfort for several weeks to several months after the surgery. However, after eight months, you are in the late stages of the recovery process.

If you continue to have extreme abdominal swelling or discomfort let your plastic surgeon know RIGHT away. They will want to examine you to make sure that this is postoperative swelling or a collection that may require additional treatment. Be sure that you're working with a board-certified plastic surgeon that is well experienced and liposuction, tummy tucks, and body contouring surgery as the experience of this expert will be essential in helping you.

Will a Mini Tummy Tuck with Lipo Be Enough?

Hello there..Im a mom of 3 and I have decided to have a mommy makeover. The full tummy tuck scar scared me, so I decided to go with the mini tummy tuck with lipo on my love handles and tummy. My question is..do you think this will be enough to fix my busted tummy..lol:)

A: When is a mini tummy tuck enough?

A mini tummy tuck is a safe and effective procedure that can create a more contoured abdomen, a tight waist and a beautiful figure.

Patients who are ideal candidates for a mini tummy tuck are those that have limited skin damage, excess fat and it may or may not have loose muscles. A mini tummy tuck is characterized by a smaller incision then a full tummy tuck. We tell our patients that the length of the incision is largely determined by the amount of skin that they would like us to remove. If the patient has skin damage or stretch marks that are limited to just the very low abdomen or centrally, we can get away with using a very small incision. If the patient has extensive stretch marks it would be in their best interest to use a longer incision and remove them completely. Be sure you have a frank discussion with your plastic surgeon and inform them of your concerns and your aesthetic goals. This will help both of you create a surgical plan that will meet them.
