I'm considering to do lower eyelid surgery and the doctor said that he can do conservative fat removal and fat redraping. I fear that since my eye is prominent it may sag the lower eyelid and show more of the white are of my eyes. Would Restylane suit better for my eye anatomy?
I think you have a tendency for your lower eyelid to retract and so when the doctor does your eyes he amy want to tighten the lower lid with a canthoplasty or canthopexy.Fat addition would help as well.
My tear test was 4mm. I have some puffiness in the lower lids and some excess skin in the upper lids. I take antihistamines (Benadryl) regularly, could this cause my dry eyes? If I stop taking Benadryl would my eyes become less dry? I use antihistamine eye drops daily but I don't use drops for dry eyes. Under what circumstances could I have upper and lower eyelid surgery? What questions should I ask a plastic surgeon about my eyes? Does season matter (no winter surgery?)
Yes you can have surgery but one needs to be careful not ot take out too much upperlid skin and cause you to not be able to close your eyes. Also with regard to the lower lids maybe just taking out the fat might be the right way to go again because if too much skin is removed then your lower lid casn droop and exacerbate your dry eyes.
but am on unemployment, have been a single parent since my son was 5 and can't afford to do it unless it is considered medical. How can I go about this..
Based on the pictures provided, I think it is unlikely that insurance will cover an upper eyelid Blepharoplasty. As others have stated, medical necessity for upper eyelid Blepharoplasty requires a subjective problem seeing related to excess upper eyelid skin, visual field testing which confirms a peripheral visual filed defect (performed by an Ophthalmologist), and a physical exam which confirms excess upper eyelid skin. I would recommend that you see an Occuloplastic Surgeon who performs a large number of insurance/ medicare Blepharoplasties in order to enhance your ability to have this procedure covered.
