Nipples Sore One Year After Breast Reduction Surgery, What can I Do?

I had a breast reduction a year ago. I'm African American so I got keloids around my nipples and under my breast as well. The keloids hurt from time to time, but what is more painful right now is my nipples. I fell asleep on my stomach two nights ago and since then my right nipple has been very sensitive to touch and pressure. Its actually a shooting pain throughout my breast. Is there anything I can use or do to soothe this?

A: sore nipples post reduction

I think you could try a medrol steroid pack or even soem injections with long acting anesthetic agents or even a combination of steroid/local,You may also try a course of anti inflammatory meds such as advil or ibuprofen.

Having Breast Reduction Surgery in my Doctor's Surgical Suite, What Are the Differences from Having It Done in the Hospital?

I've heard it's a bit cheaper in the surgery suite, very much interested in hearing feedback on this. I feel like I will receive more/better care in a hospital for some reason. Is it safe in the doctor's office? I'm a 34DDD size, 5'6 and 158 lbs.

A: Breast Reduction in a private OR vs. the hospital

for many of the reasons already listed, office based surgery is a safe, more cost effective alternative to surgery in a hospital.  However, if you are planning on having your breast reduction surgery covered by your insurance, this must have pre-authorization for both the surgical center and physician and must be performed in a center that contracts with your insurance carrier, typically a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.  As already mentioned by others, making sure you are seeing a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and that the center is appropriately certified is vital to your safety and the success of your surgery.

I Am 5'1" and a 34G. I Want to Be a C, but the Dr. Says D. Doesn't He Do What I Want? (photo)

This is an area that I gain weight, and I'm only 31 and may want another baby, I just never want them to be big like that.

A: Breast reduction- choosing the right size

patient Q:  I Am 5'1" and a 34G. I Want to Be a C, but the Dr. Says D. Doesn't He Do What I Want?

Choosing the desired size with a breast reduction is certainly not an exact science.  The patient's body habitus, breast skin, shape and tissue, as well as the patient's desire must all be considered carefully.  It is not simply a matter of choosing what you want.  The determination is made by an interaction between surgeon and patient and you must feel comfortable with that choice.  Also remember, that cup sizes are not strict size determinations as bras differ widely and therefore your cup size may differ significantly based on the type and make of bra you purchase.  The physician may feel that a C cup will be too small for you, but it is not a bad idea to see more than one physician to find one you are most comfortable with, preferrably board certified plastic surgeons to assure that the doctor as the best training possible to deliver the best care possible.

good luck
