i understand that ”butt shots” are not legally practiced but when i see the horror stories about it being potentially fatal its always stated that its because of the hydrogel i just wanted to know if it was difference between silicone and hydrogel
Hydrogel is a generic term but usually refers to a polymer of acrylamide sold as Aquamid. Silicone is the name given to a polymer of silicon, oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. They are different materials. The volume of material needed for buttock augmentation is such that one would be injecting very large volumes of these compounds with the attendant risks of embolism due to entry into blood vessels, infection, immune reactions causing redness, pain and even drainage from the skin and all leading to possible permanent deformity. There are very few legitimate practitioners using these product for buttock augmentation and the manufacturing origin and actual make up of what is being injected is often unknown. Nevertheless the allure of this procedure is the low cost, not need for anesthesia and instant gratification with minimal pain and downtime - if you are lucky. Right now until more is seen in the medical literature about hydrogel use in large volumes I would save my money for the best operation, which in my opinion is fat grafting. Stick with legitimate surgeons and more mainstream procedures. Nothing is risk free but injecting these artificial substances poses many potentially serious risks. Best of Luck Dr Harrell
Im 35yrs old 5'8 and 184. looking for a doctor in florida
Buttock augmentation with fat is my preferred approach when enlarging and improving the shape of a patient's buttocks. The main limiting factor is the amount of fat available for harvesting by liposuction. In the right patient the benefits are a shapelier torso or thighs in addition to a fuller and better shaped buttock. I reserve buttock implants for those women with no fat available to donate but who are very motivated to enlarge their buttocks. Buttock augmentation with implants requires a larger incision and is associated with a lengthier recovery and a higher postoperative complication rate. Best of Luck Dr Harrell
I had gastric bypass and have lost 135lbs. I am only 32, I'd like to wear a bikini.I've received 3 different opinions. One told me he would not do my breasts in one surgery. He would do a lift then implants because he did not want the blood supply to my nipple to die. The 2 other doctors said they would do everything at once. I want to have a lower body lift, "build a but",breast lift w/ silicone implants. Is this safe to do in one surgery? Also,is fat grafting going to give me a decent rear end? If I Get a Butt Through Fat Grafting Will the Results Be Permanent? Is a Brazilian Butt Lift the Same Thing As Fat Grafting?
Doing multiply proceedures after massive weight loss can safely be done in most patients. Obviously your current medical problems will influence a surgeons decision. A common procedure done in my office is a " Total Body Lift" with/without breast lift/reduction +/- implants. Patients will commonly add an arm lift. The thigh lift is done in a month or so later. The Total Body Lift comprises of a beltectomy(lifts up the butt and outer thighs) Bra roll excision, Axilla excison, Abdominalplasty, Corsetplasty +/- a reverse Abdominalplasty. I do not transfuse blood and this is done in a hosptial setting as out patient surgery. Obviously you need to pick a surgeon who is well versed in these proceedures. Also a medical clearance is a must. You will need to have a special nutritional supplementation prior to surgery to maximize a good outcome. Good luck with your surgery.
